6 Winchester Part 2 – Bishops, Buildings & Bones, 1100 to 1600
Talk by Andrew Negus

How did Winchester go from being the noble Capital of England to a provincial backwater? Its royal heritage brought destructive visits from Simon de Montfort and one of its own bishops. Learn how black rats caused one of the great schools of England to be founded there. Then the Reformation saw Winchester’s monasteries swept away and its Bishops lose their political power. But above all, how did Winchester lose the bones of England’s greatest king, and the bones of one of its greatest saints?

8 The A6 Murder
Talk by Paul Stickler

A6 Murder
Paul returns with another mystery! In August 1961, a man was shot dead and a woman assaulted at the side of a main road in Bedfordshire. There then unfolded an intriguing chronology of events which has remained a source of controversy to this day. This is a fascinating and absorbing story which placed the entire criminal justice system under the political microscope and allows the audience to consider the guilt or otherwise of the main characters involved.
