61 Lyme Regis Cemetery Chapel

Slight slope up to the chapel.
Lyme Regis Cemetery, Charmouth Road,
DT7 3DW.
Leave A35 at Charmouth roundabout, taking
the A3052 to Lyme Regis. Going downhill into
the town, the cemetery is on your right, the
town football ground is on your left, followed
by a large WDDC car park (DT7 3DR). Car park
entrance is by lower road width restriction.
Public toilets in car park.
Please use public car parks.

A very highly decorated Church of England
cemetery chapel. Built in 1856, it contains a fine
example of a Victorian funeral bier. The chapel is
still used occasionally for funerals. There is also
the opportunity to visit the nearby grave of the
crew of HMS Formidable which was sunk in Lyme
Bay in 1915.

Most paths around the garden are gravel and
flat. Off-road wheelchairs can be booked in
advance from reception - 01202 843752.
There is also a volunteer led leg-saver service
operating around part of the gardens (subject to
availability).

A lavish house filled with treasures, a beautiful
garden and extensive countryside estate. The
house is brimming with historic collections whilst
the garden includes a Japanese Garden, Kitchen
Garden and woodland. Entry to the house is by
pre-booked ticket only. See Event 64.
The garden is a garden for all seasons with late summer, early autumn being a highlight as the
Acer trees and the golden hues of the Nursery
Wood display the best of the autumn colour.
The Kitchen Garden is a hive of activity with
vegetable patches and the herbaceous borders.
There is a new Woodland Trail, approximately
4.7km in length taking in exciting paths and
historic carriageways. This is great for dog
walkers, family groups, cyclists, runners and offroad
wheelchair users. Dogs are welcome in the
car park, Woodland Trail and parkland (including
the Japanese Garden).
There are seasonal specials in the cafe along
with seasonal and local ranges in the shop.

A dazzling house, inspired by the palaces of Italy.
Stunning paintings by Rubens, Van Dyck, Titian
and Brueghel make it an art lover’s dream whilst
the Egyptian Room hosts the largest private
collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts in the
UK. This year we will also be telling the stories
of four women who have been instrumental in
shaping Kingston Lacy - bringing together fine
art, decorative objects and voices from the
Bankes Archive, “Beyond the Portrait” delves
into the history from Civil War to the early 20th
Century.
