New Event
Full access
Full directions available on ticket
Walk takes place on public footpaths. There is one rather steep path to walk up. There are no steps or stairs to deal with.
For hundreds of years Iford was the entry point
to the wild heathland where Bournemouth now
stands. From the refined tea rooms, through the
wild witch of Iford, to fist-fights over the use of
the bridge, the old village had a rich history. Over
the 20th century the village and its surroundings
were transformed into a salubrious suburb of
Bournemouth. This walk will peel back the
layers of suburbia, to discover the ancient village
hidden beneath the surface.
