Welcome…
to the 2019 programme of events, celebrating Dorset’s rich architectural heritage.

This is your chance to visit buildings not normally open to the public, to go on guided walks, hear talks and generally enjoy the County’s built environment.
We have put together a packed programme, with an exciting mixture of fascinating old favourites and intriguing new venues for the whole family to explore and enjoy.

From a tiny cottage to a mighty castle the 2019 programme takes in the whole range of architectural history and
heritage in our beautiful county. We have Houses, Churches, Chapels, Castles, Town Halls, Guildhalls, Mills, Cemeteries,
Almshouses, Air Raid Shelters and Studios. We even have a working Port!

I hope you will find the week exciting and interesting. If you really enjoy an event please do let us know! Likewise, if there is something that you find
particularly disappointing, please tell us so we can sort it out for next time!
On behalf of all the event hosts and the DAHW Team, have a wonderful week and enjoy everything that Dorset has to offer.

A Big Thank You and Goodbye to Our Sponsors
As we were putting this year’s programme together we sadly learnt that our long-term sponsors, The Institute of Commercial Management,
would be unable to sponsor this year’s event. The ICM very kindly stepped forward and offered to keep the event going when the Conservation Officers Group,
who originally created Heritage Week in the 1990’s, were no longer able to support the Week.
We would just like to take this opportunity to thank them for all of their generous support over the last 10 years, without them there would
not have been a Heritage Week for you all to enjoy every year!
This does mean that we now needto find some new sponsors to ensure that Heritage Week can continue into 2020 and beyond. All of the events in
the Week may be completely free, but compiling the programme, producing and distributing the booklet, and managing the ticketing of bookable
events all incur significant costs, which East Dorset Heritage Trust is unable to meet alone. So if you represent an organisation that would
be interested in helping us to continue this wonderful and enjoyable annual event for the future, please do get in touch with us.
